about the project

Death on the Glacier investigates the mysterious case of Duncan MacPherson, using new scientific methods in an attempt to uncover what really happened. August 1989: Canadian professional ice hockey player Duncan MacPherson has no idea that a short trip to the Stubai Glacier will be his last. He disappears without a trace in the Tyrolean Alps. Fourteen years later, his body is discovered by chance by a ski resort employee, buried beneath a ski slope. His death is believed to have been caused by a fall into a crevasse. But serious failures by the police and local authorities have fuelled speculation about a possible cover-up intended to protect the reputation of Tyrol’s ski tourism industry. To this day, many questions remain unanswered.
